Christmas Tree Farm becomes Natural Reserve
The Reserve was originated within a traditional ‘’Tree-farm" - (138 Hectars-355 Acres)  “Fazenda Castanheiras’’,33 Kms from downtown São Paulo, the world second-largest-city - 22 million population - altitude 780 meters above sea level.
Mr. Hans Hering, since the decade of 1920 was the    washing machines distributor for Brazil.    In 1942 he started restoring a forest which had been previously submitted to clear cut in the outskirts of S. Paulo. That originated also this Christmas Tree Farm.
Since 1948, during 75 years  Edwin William Hering (now semi-retired), has grown Christmas Trees on this property, particularly the "China-fir" Cunninghamia Lanceolata  the most “exclusive” Christmas tree then available in Sao Paulo.
