CASTANHEIRAS gave
the name to the estate in 1944
Mr.Hering had planted
a row of Chestnuts trees along the entire West side of the main
access. But afterwards planted also Pinus Elliottiis -
which deprived the chestnuts trees of
sunshine,thus the chestnuts trees died out - they need plenty of
sunshine. Some were
later on planted at apropriate locations, which provided them of
