The Christmas tree is a luxury we can’t go without on the 25th of December.

.
The traditional pines, are seen displayed everywhere in Town during the Christmas Season, but no where does it stand out more than at 'Agro Castanheiras', next to the Cidade Jardim Bridge, we would expect no less.
.
Every tree there is carefully choosen under the supervision of an expert on the issue: attorney William Hering, who for the past 43 years has devoted himself producing “special trees of rare perfection in their conical form and foliage, selected among thousands.”
.
The plantation is located on a 145-hectare farm in Colônia, near Parelheiros and employs techniques coordinated by the National Christmas  Tree Growers Association – an American organization that provides guidance to Christmas tree planters in the US and in Europe as well on new harvesting methods.
.
Mr.Hering declares that the demand for Christmas trees remained steady this year: “People are haggling over the price, but at the end of the day they’re taking their Christmas tree with them.”
.
At Agro Castanheiras, you’ll find eveything from a 1-meter "Thuya" tree for Cr$ 10,000.00 to a 3-meter, 10-year-old Chinese Fir ( Cunninghamia ), for Cr$ 280,000.00.

Since that time the monetary system has changed to the Real$
